A LOOK INTO THE TOUR
#SchoolsNotPrisons involved more than 70 community organizations, global music and entertainment platform, TIDAL, and more than 30 artists including Pusha T, Ceci Bastida, Ty Dollar $ign, Aloe Blacc, La Santa Cecilia, John Forte, Jasiri X, Kimya Dawson, Immortal Technique, Los Rakas, Mistah F.A.B., Low Leaf, Buyepongo, Mystic, DJ Orijanus, SAKE ONE, Fashawn, Maya Jupiter, Audio Push, Chino XL, Diggy Simmons, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles, and others came together to call for an end to massive spending on incarceration that is standing in the way of California’s ability to invest in education.
The tour kicked off August 6, 2016 in Sacramento, and continued to San Bernardino, Oakland, Fresno, Coachella, Los Angeles, Oxnard, San Diego and Stockton. The tour also included performances inside state and youth prison facilities. All concerts were free and open to all ages, with events also featuring art exhibits by local youth and community members. Local performers also joined the headliners at each of the concerts.
