SAFER COMMUNITIES START WITH HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES
Revolve Impact works on a number of violence prevention efforts including supporting community-based gang intervention efforts, producing the annual Living Rooms Across America Tour, and managing California’s historic Speak for Safety initiative aimed at reducing gun violence.
FROM THE HEART OF VIOLENCE
A media and social action initiative raising awareness of the critical work of community-based interventionists in Los Angeles and across the United States. The initiative is highlighting the work of LA-based intervention workers who have connected tens of thousands of youth and their families to jobs, education, cultural arts, and other necessary services and programs and helped reduce violence in Los Angeles to historic levels not seen in over 40 years.
LIVING ROOMS ACROSS AMERICA (LRAA)
An annual series of curated events that utilizes music and personal stories as vehicles to shift the public conversation around community violence. Inspired by the United Farm Workers house parties of the 1960’s and 1970’s, LRAA brings together policymakers, business leaders, artists, and community leaders who are committed to changing our culture through the re-telling of ideas, stories, and images. The purpose of LRAA is to promote public awareness, education, and affect cultural change through music, film, and other media platforms, while inspiring individuals to participate in creating long-term, sustainable change.
SPEAK FOR SAFETY
A campaign to raise awareness of the Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO), a historic, first-of-its-kind tool for temporarily removing a firearm from loved ones in crisis. Family members are often the first to know when a loved one is in crisis of harming his or herself or others. A common thread in many acts of violence is that family members saw their loved ones engage in dangerous behaviors and grew concerned even before any violence occurred. The Gun Violence Restraining Order offers family members, household members, and law enforcement a tool for temporarily removing a firearm from loved ones in crisis. A GVRO offers an opportunity for a loved one to access help and care that could stop a violent situation from occurring.
